The California Lightning Sprints (CLS) are a Southern California based 1200cc Mini-Sprint club. The group competes in both winged and non-winged events in California. Reaching speeds in excess of 100 mph, the cars of the CLS may be small in size, but they are big on excitement!!!

  CODY NIGH WINS SQUIRE MEMORIAL AT BARONA - PERRIS THIS SATURDAY!
(Torrance, CA, May 22, 2018) Third-year California Lightning Sprint Car Series driver Cody Nigh became a first-time winner when he captured the Jim Squire Memorial last Saturday night at the Barona Speedway. It was the first time the CLS visited its former home track in more than 10-years.   LANGE WINS SECOND STRAIGHT CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT MAIN!
(Torrance, CA, May 10, 2018) Fifteen-year-old Aiden Lange erased any doubt about who is the hottest lightning sprint driver on the Pacific Coast when he led all 25-laps to win his second straight USAC/California Lightning Sprint Car main event last Saturday night at the Ventura Raceway. After one week off the USAC/California Lightning Sprint Car Series will be back in action this Saturday, May 5th, at its home track, Jim Naylor’s Ventura Raceway. Joining the CLS on the “Cinco de Mayo” program will be the USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and VRA Dwarf Cars. Spectator gates will open at 3:00 P.M. with racing at 5:30......more
   
  AIDEN LANGE GETS FIRST CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CAR WIN!

Teenage star Aiden Lange of Lakewood, California won his first ever USAC/California Lightning Sprint Car main event when he outdistanced five-time series champion Bobby Michnowicz at the Bakersfield Speedway last Saturday night. For Lange, it was his second win in three starts in 2018 as he also captured the BCRA season opener at the Placerville Speedway earlier in the month.....more

  MICHNOWICZ KICKS OFF LIGHTNING SEASON WITH A WIN AT VENTURA – BAKERSFIELD THIS WEEK!
(Torrance, CA, April 17, 2018) The weather finally cooperated and the California Lightning Sprint Car Series kicked off its historic 25th anniversary season in style with a big field of cars at the Ventura Raceway last Saturday night. Big field or not, the results were much the same as they have been the past few years with five-time series champion Bobby Michnowicz of Lomita prevailing over the field to win the season opener.   AFTER TWO RAINOUTS LIGHTNING SPRINTS OPEN SEASON AT VENTURA!
(Torrance, CA, April 8, 2018) Finally, after two previous rainouts, the California Lightning Sprint Car Series will kick off its historic 25th anniversary season this Saturday night, April 14th, at the Ventura Raceway. It will likewise be the season opener for the track as it lost its first three shows due to rain. Joining the CLS on the ocean side oval will be the Dwarf Cars, Senior Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, Hobby Stocks and the Focus Midgets. Spectator gates will open at 3:00 P.M. and racing will start at 5:30.....more  
   
  RAIN CANCELS CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINTS FOR 2ND WEEK IN A ROW!
(Torrance, CA, March 21, 2018) For the second week in a row, the California Lightning Sprint Car Series historic 25th anniversary season opener has fell victim to rain. Last Saturday, the original season opener was rained out at the Bakersfield Speedway. Mother Nature has unleashed her fury once again and has thus forced postponement of this Saturday’s scheduled event at the Ventura Raceway. The teams of the CLS now must wait three weeks before getting another shot at it at Ventura on April 14th.....more

Saturday night's California Lightning Sprint Car race at Bakersfield Speedway has been cancelled due to weather. The series resumes March 24 at Ventura Raceway.
   
  CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CARS OPEN 25TH SEASON SATURDAY AT BAKERSFIELD!

The California Lightning Sprint Car Series will kick off its historic 25th anniversary season this Saturday night, March 17th, at the Bakersfield Speedway. Spectator gates will open at 4:00 P.M. with racing at 6:00. The USAC Western Midgets, IMCA Stock Cars and American Stocks will also be on the program.....more

  INDIANA’S BRADLEY GETS SEASON ENDING CALIFORNIA LIGHTNING SPRINT CAR WIN – MICHNOWICZ GETS 5TH CHAMPIONSHIP!
(Torrance, CA, November 27, 2017) Visiting Indiana driver Andy Bradley liked what he saw on his first trip to the Bakersfield Speedway for the “USAC Western States Lightning Sprint Car Championship” last Saturday night as he won the history making main event and pocketed $1,000.00 in the process. While Bradley won the main event, Bobby Michnowicz won a hard fought, season long battle for his fifth California Lightning Sprint Car Series Championship.....more
